Tommaso Ciampa was certainly one of the best things about NXT throughout his run in the developmental brand. He was part of solid feuds, especially with his eternal friend/rival Johnny Gargano. Ciampa came back to the squared circle in June. He also had a big win over Imperium this week on RAW and now it appears he is determined to beat Gunther.

After several months of absence, the Sicilian Psychopath returned to Monday Night RAW earlier this year and immediately began feuding with The Miz. That said, there was a lot of uncertainty in his return.

While his tag team partner Johnny Gargano remains absent from WWE television, Tommaso Ciampa was presented with a huge opportunity after deeating Giovanni Vinci on RAW.

While speaking in a backstage interview after Monday Night RAW, Tommaso Ciampa made it clear that he is determined to defeat Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship.

”The job’s not done. I’ve made it clear that Imperium did not choose me, I chose Imperium. The truth is I chose Gunther, if I gotta go through Giovanni and Ludwig to get to Gunther, them I’m gonna get to the final boss.

The workhorse title was built for guys like me. You are the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time…for now. Because soon, the dragon will be slayed – I’m gonna be the dragon slayer. We’re gonna step inside the ring whether you like it or not.”

Only time will tell whether Tommaso Ciampa will be the one to dethrone Gunther, now that the Austrian star has already made history as the Intercontinental Champion earlier this month.
