Bad Bunny is a multi-talented artist who became a major star in WWE and one of the most beloved personalities in recent memory thanks to his love for pro wrestling in general. He might be one of the biggest names in the industry right now, but it appears Bunny won’t be part of Marvel’s upcoming ‘El Muerto’ film.
Last year, Sony announced Marvel’s ‘El Muerto’ film project, which would have been part of Sony’s Marvel Universe. Bad Bunny was announced to be part of the Spider-Man spinoff film at the time.
Sony previously announced that the project had been taken off its release schedule. Initially slated for a January 12, 2024, release, the film had not yet commenced shooting. The Hollywood Reporter also stated that “the project fell victim to the ongoing writers strike; the script needed additional work as of mid-spring but services could not be done in time.”
While speaking to Vanity Fair, Bad Bunny was asked about ‘El Muerto’ and its status. Bad Bunny made it clear that he is no longer part of the project, noting that his pulling out of the project was due to a delicate reason.
“An awkward silence ripples across the table. ‘Next question,’ asserts Solá [Bunny’s publicist], who’s seated at an adjacent booth. ‘I don’t know what to say,’ Martínez replies, calling the issue ‘delicate.’ Solá sharpens the point. “Obviously, it’s out,” she says of the film.”
Mercedes Mone was planned for a role in ‘El Muerto’ as well at one point. Regardless, only time will tell whether the movie will ever see the light of day now, as things don’t look good for its future.
