AEW Grand Slam is going to take over Arthur Ashe Stadium again this year, and they are getting the card booked. One big match was set up this week, and fans will see a title vs title match.

Eddie Kingston has a problem with Claudio Castagnoli. The former Cesaro and King have issues that date back to Chikara. Now, they will battle in a title for title match at AEW Grand Slam.

Eddie Kingston is currently the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion. Meanwhile, Claudio Castognoli is the ROH World Champion. Someone is walking out of the famous New York venue as a double champion.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about this title vs title booking by AEW. It was said that Eddie Kingston is very likely going to pull down those belts in New York.

“Eddie should win, I mean that’s my presumption. I always thought that Eddie Kingston should win the AEW Title at Grand Slam one year, and he’s gonna win the ROH Title, maybe.”

“I mean, I just thought [Grand Slam with Eddie Kingston’s parents there]. It’s time for Claudio to lose. Because Claudio pinning him in that previous match out of nowhere in Chicago in the tag team match didn’t make any sense, but if Eddie is going to win the title, in hindsight that makes sense. If Eddie loses, then none of that makes sense.”

Eddie Kingston gave a lot for the pro wrestling business, and AEW was his saving grace. He was almost out the door, leaving that life behind, and he even sold his gear to pay his mortgage. Now, he is going strong as a champion in NJPW, and he is looking to snag the top belt in Ring of Honor next.

We’ll have to see how Eddie Kingston and Claudio’s match turns out at AEW Grand Slam. Tony Khan has certainly told a nice story, and it appears that things are certainly looking like the tale will close with Eddie Kingston celebrating in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
