Edge wrestled Sheamus on SmackDown in Toronto, and he has not inked a new deal with the company. There are a lot of questions surrounding Edge’s name right now, and WWE might have stirred the pot a bit this week.

WWE fans were very surprised to see Edge appear in the intro video before SmackDown this week. After all, his WWE contract has been a huge discussion point in recent memory.

Ringside News reached out to ask about what exactly was the deal with Edge showing up in the SmackDown intro this week. That was a big surprise, and it caused a number of rumors to start churning within the WWE fan base.

We are able to confirm that Edge re-appearing in the SmackDown intro was not a sign that WWE thinks they have Edge coming back. It is also not an instance of “one hand not knowing what the other is doing” either. This situation is interesting, because it might have been intentional.

WWE loves generating buzz around a subject, and that seems to be the case once again. A tenured source within the WWE team told us that WWE tried to get “water cooler talk” going about Edge. Also, the development of fan “conspiracy theories” was an added bonus.

Ringside News exclusively reported that the speculation within WWE is still that Edge is AEW bound. That hasn’t changed from our previous exclusive report from a month ago.

Ringside News previously exclusively reported that there is an internal belief within WWE that Edge is going to AEW. A short time later, Sean Sapp reported that there is also belief within AEW that Tony Khan will ink Adam Copeland to a contract.

Edge has a big decision on his hands, if he hasn’t already made it. For more on this story, and so much more, please stay tuned with us here at Ringside News. As always, please leave your comments in the space below to let us know what you think!

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
