CM Punk has never failed to burn bridges with almost every promotion he has worked with, especially with WWE. His time in AEW ended far too soon as he was fired last week after a lot of backstage unrest. Now it appears Mark Henry believes AEW’s revenue will suffer after Punk’s firing.

CM Punk ended up ruining his reputation after AEW All Out last year, where he took part in a backstage brawl with The Elite. When he came back to Collision, fans had hoped he would be a better man.

That wasn’t the case as CM Punk and Jack Perry had been suspended following their backstage confrontation at AEW All In, which eventually led to Tony Khan firing CM Punk. Khan would then provide the reason behind Punk’s firing.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry was asked if he thought AEW was in a better place without Punk. Henry had a sarcastic response to the question and then compared Punk to Dennis Rodman, making it clear that he believes AEW’s revenue will suffer after Punk’s firing.

“Yes. Now, you can freely go and there will be no more complaining. There should be no more complaining. The problem is gone. The so-called problem is. Everything should be s**** and giggles and unicorn pee and rainbow blankets. That’s what it should be now. I’m curious to see how it’s going to be. The problem is solved.

When Rodman left, the team got worse. When he left Chicago, they got worse. San Antonio, they got worse. Detroit got worse when he left because he was a defensive stalwart. ‘I’m gonna go against your best player and I’m going to make his life miserable. It’s going to affect his offense.’ As far as Punk is concerned, it’s not the offense affected, it’s the money, the gates, the live events, the brass tax dealing with licensing products and merchandise money coming in. Money is going to be affected. Still, everything is solved now. The problem is gone, and there should be peace and prosperity in life.”

AEW President Tony Khan also refused to comment on CM Punk having non-compete clause after his contract termination. Only time will tell what’s next in store for The Second City Saint.
