Tonight’s SmackDown will feature the highly-anticipated return of John Cena, while no specific segment has been promoted, the return of the 16-time world champion has many excited to tune in to the show tonight.

Also scheduled for tonight is a tag team match as Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar take on the team of Grayson Waller and Austin Theory.

SmackDown tonight will also feature a returning Jimmy Uso following Jey Uso’s shocking “departure” from WWE.

It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.

SmackDown kicks off with a video recap of SmackDown from three weeks ago where Jey Uso confronted Jimmy Uso and the rest of the Bloodline before leaving through the crowd.

SMackDown kicks off live with the return of John Cena to a huge ovation from the crowd. Cena says the fans have given him 20 years worth of moments and that it never gets old and every single time it gets better. Cena says that every time he gets in the ring he is going to say thank you to everyone. Cena says he just found out before making his entrance that he will be the official host of Payback tomorrow night. Cena gives his word that he will do his best to give back to the fans.

Cena in interrupted by Jimmy Uso making his way out to the ring along with new theme music. Jimmy gets in the ring as the crowd chants “we want Jey”. Jimmy asks Cena what he’s doing here, Jimmy says the people came to see him, a top star and they came to hear why he did what he did. Jimmy says he will save his brother 10 times over if he has to, he did it because he loves Jey. Jimmy says he didn’t want his brother corrupted like Roman Reigns and like John Cena. Jimmy says that Cena and Reigns are exactly alike, Jimmy says they both take and take, and the only difference is that Cena does it with a smile.

Cena says that Jimmy has a lot on his mind, and he has wanted to say something to Jimmy for three years, and he has only one thing to say to Jimmy: “The wrong Uso quit” Jimmy turns away to leave the ring but turns back and goes for a super kick, Cena catches Jimmy’s leg and picks him up to hit Jimmy with an Attitude Adjustment before leaving the ring and going to the back.

We go backstage where Kayla Braxton interviews Grayson Waller and Austin Theroy. They both laugh at the thought of John Cena being the host of Payback. Waller teases some big news from Cody Rhodes on the Grayson Waller Effect. Theroy says that everyone can stop fantasizing about Cena and witness the greatest tag team of all time.

The LWO make their way out to the ring ahead of our opening tag team match.

Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar vs Austin Theory & Grayson Waller

Our opening tag team match begins with Waller and Escobar. Escobar hits a big drop kick and makes a quick cover for two. Mysterio tags in and Theory runs in to try and get a cheap shot but is tossed out of the ring by Theory and Mysterio follows with an outside dive on to Theory and Waller.

*Commercial break*

Our opening match continues live with Theory hitting Mysterio with a running lariat in the corner. Waller takes a cheap shot to knock Escobar off the apron and off the distraction Waller and Theory both stomp Mysterio in the corner. Mysterio ducks under a strike attempt from Waller which causes Waller to accidentally hit Theory. Mysterio runs to make the tag and Escobar climbs up top and hits Waller with a flying cross body. Escobar hits a huricanrana from off the top rope and covers but Theory breaks it up. Escobar knocks Waller out of the ring with a kick and Theory hits Escobar with a chop block to Escobar’s injured knee. Waller hits the rolling stunner and covers for three.

Winners: Austin Theory & Grayson Waller

Backstage Jimmy Uso approaches Adam Pearce interrupting Pearce talking to Michin backstage. Pearce admonishes Jimmy Uso for his backstage attitude and Jimmy just walks away without actually responding.

Bobby Lashley makes his way out to the ring as we will hear from him up next.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson trying to calm down Michin after the disrespect from Jimmy Uso. AJ Styles approaches and says that he will take care of the situation.

We go to Bobby Lashley in the ring who says that everybody keeps asking him the same question; what’s going on with him and The Street Profits. Lashley says that real recognizes real and great recognizes great and that’s why he recognizes The Street Profits.

Lashley points to the ramp and out come Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins to a great reaction from the crowd. Lashley says The Street Profits are more aggressive than they have ever been. Ford says that tonight is about them giving their appreciation to Lashley for all he has done for them. Lashley says they can thank him with their continued success, Lashley says they are putting everybody on notice that they are coming for power, control and championship gold.

As the three are leaving and walking to the back Kevin Owens’ music hits and Owens and then Sami Zayn walk out, after a brief stare down before Lashley smiles and lets them through.

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro

The match begins with Zayn and Wilde in a lock up. Zayn hits a shoulder tackle. Zayn hits a lariat and tags in Owens who hits Wilde with a swanton and covers for two. Owens goes for a pop-up powerbomb but Wilde counters with a drop kick and Del Toro tags in. Del Toro hits a flipping kick to Owens and goes for a huricanrana but Owens counters with a powerbomb. Zayn tags in and hits a Helluva kick, Owens tags back in and hits the stunner, Owens covers Del Toro for three.

Winners: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

After the bell, Zayn grabs a mic and tells Judgment Day that tomorrow night won’t be pretty, Zayn tells them to bring everything they have because it will be the fight of their lives.

Backstage Jimmy Uso is walking out of the ring when he is confronted by AJ Styles. Styles and Jimmy get hostile before Solo Sikoa runs in and takes out Styles. Jimmy gets to his feet and tells Sikoa that nobody in the Bloodline can tell him anything befoe Jimmy leaves the arena.

*Commercial break*

Back live with AJ Styles being interviewed backstage. Styles says the Bloodline doesn’t run everything around here and that tonight he wants Solo SIkoa one on one. The rest of the OC comes up to Styles and Anderson tries to keep Styles away from the Bloodline but Styles refuses and storms off.

The Miz then makes his way out to the ring. Miz says that at Payback LA Knight will be in the biggest match of his career. Miz says LA Knight is not half the star he is or that he even was 10 years ago. Miz is cut off by the entrance of LA Knight who gets the usual LA Knight pop from the crowd.

LA Knight says that The Miz has done anther one of his famous cosplays and says just like the rest, The Miz dressed as someone he wants to be but can’t. LA Knight says he has crawled up from the sewers, from roach-infested motels while Miz got here from a reality show and rode the elevator to the top that LA Knight climbed his way up. The Miz says LA Knight has failed where The Miz has succeed. LA Knight says that Miz isn’t even the star of his own show where he carries the bags of the show’s real star. The Miz says that the fans love LA Knight because they can relate to his failures, but LA Knight has a chance to do something the fans never could, succeed. The Miz says he crushes hopes and dreams all the time and when LA Knight loses everything against The Miz LA Knight will go back to those motels like it’s 2003. LA Knight says when Miz is living in the past, his present is trash and his future is even worse. Miz goes to take a cheap shot but La Knight avoids it. Miz throws his jacket in LA Knight’s face and grabs him and hits the skull crushing finale and The Miz leaves the ring and walks to the back. LA Knight runs up the ramp to attack The Miz before WWE officials are able to drag him away.

Bayley vs Shotzi

The match begins with Shotzi ducking under a kick and unleashing several strikes in the corner. Shotzi chokes out Bayley over the ropes. Bayley taunts Shotzi before Shotzi hits an enziguri and throws Bayley out of the ring and into the barricade.

*Commercial break*

The match continues live with Bayley having Shotzi in a side headlock on the mat. Shotzi gets to her feet but Bayley hits an elbow drop to halt her momentum. Bayley goes for a second elbow drop but Shotzi brings her knees up to counter. Bayley rolls out of the ring and Shotzi hits with a tope suicida. Back in the ring Shotzi hits a knee strike before getting tripped up on the ropes by Bayley. Shotzi hits Bayley with a snap suplex before hitting a cannon ball splash. Bayley goes to grap Iyp Sky’s title belt to use as a weapon but Charlotte Flair makes her way out to attack Sky. Off the distraction Shotzi hits a DDT and covers for three.

Winner: Shotzi

Solo Sikoa vs AJ Styles

Our main event begins with Styles rushing right after Sikoa with strikes. Sikoa throws Styles to the corner and hits with a big shoulder tackle. Sikoa goes for a splash but Styles brings his knee up to counter. Styles goes for a body slam but doesn’t have the strength and Sikoa hits an elbow to the back of the head to break free. Styles ducks a lariat and hits a drop kick. Paul Heyman then walks down to the ring and this distracts Styles long enough for Sikoa to hit with a forearm to the back of the head.

*Commercial break*

Our main event continues live with Styles leaping off the top rope right into an uppercut from Sikoa. sikoa then throws Styles right into the ring post and out of the ring. Sikoa slams Styles off the announce table before throwing him back in the ring. Sikoa goes for the Samoan Spike but Styles avoids it and hits the Pele kick. Styles hits a drop kick to the knees and then a running forearm strike. Styles hits a corner splash and springs off the ropes but is caught and hits with a Samoan drop by Sikoa. Sikoa picks Styles up but Styles climbs over the ropes and hits a forearm strike. Styles goes for the Phenomenal forearm but out of nowhere Jimmy Uso runs in to knock Styles off the ropes. Sikoa then hits the Samoan spike and covers for three.

Winner: Solo Sikoa

After the bell Sikoa grabs Jimmy Uso for a Samoan Spike but Heyman yells at Sikoa and gets him to release Jimmy. Jimmy then hits Styles with a super kick and an Uso splash.
