CM Punk Comments On People Not Liking Him During 45-Minute Speech At Cauliflower Alley Club

CM Punk might be suspended from AEW after his skirmish with Jack Perry backstage at AEW All In. That didn’t keep him from giving a speech at the Cauliflower Alley Club a few days later.

We previously noted that CM Punk was spotted talking with Ron Simmons and JBL at the Cauliflower Alley Club ceremony. He had a lot more to say, because the Second City Savior also gave quite a speech.

On August 30th, CM Punk was celebrated at the Cauliflower Alley Club, where he was presented with the prestigious Iron Mike Mazurki Award, a recognition of his outstanding achievements both inside and outside the wrestling ring.

In a 45-minute speech, CM Punk commented on people not liking him and earning the approval of legends.

“When people tell me that they don’t like me or that the internet is mad at me, I just chuckle because Roddy Piper liked me. Dusty Rhodes liked me and Harley Race liked me. And that means more than anything else in the world because these legends put their stamp on me before anyone else did. It gave me the confidence, and it gave me the ability to succeed.” 

This award was announced for CM Punk in May. That being said, it is not something that was booked over the weekend. Punk had this engagement, and he wasn’t going to miss it.

CM Punk is a rare breed in the pro wrestling business, but that room full of pro wrestling legends at the Cauliflower Alley Club was certainly a welcoming place for him. Only time will tell if he returns to AEW, because he threatened to quit, but his absence will cause Tony Khan to re-book All Out.
