Before we get into SmackDown tonight I would like to pay tribute to both Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt, I encourage anyone following along tonight to fill this comment section with your favorite moments of them, may they both rest in peace.

WWE Women’s Championship: Iyo Sky vs Zelina Vega

Rey Mysterio vs Grayson Waller

It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.

SmackDown opens up with a graphic paying tribute to Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt. We cut to the entire roster on the ramp including Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan standing front and center. Michael Cole announces how tonight will pay tribute to both of them and then we get a moment of silence and the 10 bell salute.

We then get a touching tribute video to Bray Wyatt that I implore everyone to find and watch. We cut back to the superstars on the top of the ramp as the crowd loudly chant “Thank you Bray” followed by a chorus of “He’s got the whole world in his hands”.

SmackDown returns with a tribute video to Terry Funk featuring Tweets from many wrestling stars from the past and present paying tribute to one of wrestling’s greatest legends.

Rey Mysterio vs Grayson Waller

Our opening match begins with a lock up and Waller tossing Mysterio to the corner. We get another lock up that Mysterio transitions into an arm drag take down. Mysterio hits a forearm strike and Waller responds with a big shoulder tackle. Waller executes a side headlock take down but Mysterio gets up and hits a head-scissors take down. Mysterio hits a series of strikes in the corner but Waller grabs Mysterio off the ropes before Mysterio sends Waller to the ropes, Mysterio goes for a 619 but Waller avoids it and throws Mysterio over the top to the outside. Waller follows Mysterio out of the ring but Waller gets hit with a huricanrana.

*Commercial break*

Our opening match continues live with Waller stomping Mysterio face-first in the corner of the middle rope. Waller climbs up top and walks the ropes before hitting the elbow drop, Waller covers for two. Waller Irish whips Mysterio to the corner causing Mysterio to crash down to the mat from the impact. Mysterio ducks under a lariat and hits a cross body from off the middle rope followed by a tornado DDT that Mysterio covers off of for a two count. Waller lifts Mysterio on his shoulders, Mysterio escapes but Waller hits a forearm to the back of the head. Mysterio gets Waller on the ropes but Austin Theory comes out to cause a distraction. Waller gets a quick roll up that gets a two count. As THeory approaches the ring Santos Escobar runs out to attack Theory. Mysterio hits Theory with a drop kick and Waller follow out of the ring with a lariat to Mysterio. Back in the ring Mysterio launches Waller to the ropes and Mysterio hits the 619, Mysterio hits the splash and covers for three.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

We then cut to a video that showcases the formation of the Wyatt family, the video graphic is accompanied by a mysterious QR code in true Bray Wyatt fashion.

SmackDown returns with Damage CTRL backstage for an interview. Kayla Braxton brings up how Zelina Vega has beaten Iyo Sky twice now. Bayley speaks up to call Vega’s two victories flukes and that we are all in Iyo’s era and everyone should buckle up and enjoy the ride.

We then get the entrances and introductions of Iyo Sky and Zelina Vega for our upcoming championship match.

WWE Women’s Championship: Iyo Sky vs Zelina Vega

Our Women’s Championship match begins with a lock up. Sky locks in a side headlock and Sky flips over a Vega drop down before taunting Vega. Sky throws Vega to the ropes right in front of Bayley and Dakota Kai. Sky plants Vega with a power slam and covers for two. Vega avoids a second power slam and hits with a kick. Vega goes up top but is thrown down to the mat by Sky. Sky locks in a chin lock on the mat, Vega is able to power to her feet but Sky hits a knee strike. Vega flips out of a back drop and hits a sling blade. Vega hits a DDT and goes back to the top rope. Vega hits a meteora and makes the cover for a two count. Sky springboards off the top rope to hit a missile drop kick. Vega counters a power slam attempt and hits a tornado DDT. Vega goes for code red but Sky counters and hits a big power bomb. Sky climbs to the top rope but Vega pulls her down and hits the code red but Sky is able to roll out of the ring. Vega follows out but Sky slams Vega into the steel stairs before throwing Vega back in the ring. Sky hits a running knee in the corner and climbs up top, Sky hits the moonsault and covers for three.

Winner: Iyo Sky

We cut to backstage where we see Cody Rhodes walking to the ring as he is set to pay tribute to Terry Funk up next.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns with Cody Rhodes making his way out to the ring. Rhodes tells a story of when he was 11 years old he heard someone call his father a “egg sucking dog” and the man yelling this peculiar insult was of course Terry Funk. Rhodes says there a fabled few in this industry who get to call themselves “cowboys” and that Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt both earned the right to be called that. Rhodes says Terry Funk was a man who wore that 10 pounds of gold proudly, and that Terry Funk has been a constant in wrestling for 50 years. Rhodes says that Terry Funk was someone who helped an entire company, an entire revolution. Rhodes then shows a video package tribute to Terry Funk featuring career highlights including footage of Funk himself speaking as well as Stone Cold, Ric Flair and Mick Foley speaking on the legacy of Terry Funk.

We cut back to Rhodes in the ring where Rhodes says Funk was extremely passionate and that he is honored to announce that our next match is a “Terry Funk hardcore tag team match”

Butch & Ridge Holland vs The Street Profits

Our Terry Funk hardcore tag team match begins with all four wrestlers in a big brawl that instantly spills outside the ring. Ford hits Butch with a big shoulder tackle back in the ring and Butch responds with a big drop kick to Ford and then another drop kick to Dawkins. Holland plants Ford with a big DDT before Dawkins hits Holland with a power slam. FOrd and Dawkins hit a double power slam to Butch beore both laying into Holland with strikes in the corner. Butch goes to the top rope and takes out Ford and Dawkins with a moonsault. Holland places Butch on his shoulders and swings him around much like Terry Funk swinging a ladder. The fight again spills outside when Bobby Lashley then makes his way out.

*Commercial break*

The match continues live with Butch and Holland both hitting 10 beats of the Bodhran. Holland picks Ford up and Butch runs and hits a power bomb. Dawkins hits Holland with a spinning elbow and Dawkins places Holland on his shoulders and Ford hits a blockbuster and covers but Butch breaks it up. Ford hits Butch with an enziguri, Dawkins climbs up top but Holland runs up and hits a superplex. Ford hits Holland with a frog splash and Butch runs in to hit a stomp. Butch rolls out of the ring and grabs a table. Butch bumps into Bobby Lashley which causes everyone in the arena to gasp before Butch puts the table in the ring. Butch climbs up top but Lashley shoves him off and hits a brutal spear to Butch. Ford and Dawkins slam Holland through the table and Ford covers for three.

Winners: The Street Profits

SmackDown returns with LA Knight to his obligatory huge pop. LA Knight gets the mic and says that he’ll get to The Miz in a second but tonight’s about Bray Wyatt. LA Knight says he saw everyone in the crowd representing with the fireflies. LA Knight says sometimes his greatest foes can end up being your biggest helpers. LA Knight says he and Wyatt put themselves through hell and it prepared him for everything. LA Knight thanks Bray Wyatt. LA Knight then brings up The Miz and does a spot on vocal impression before saying nobody ever cared about The Miz, people cared about his stunt double more than they ever did about him. LA Knight says it doesn’t matter if it’s Raw, SmackDown or wherever, he will bring the fight to The Miz, LA Knight then gets right up in the camera and says a wise man once told him….run.

LA Knight vs Finn Balor

Our main event begins with a lock up. Balor ducks under a lariat and rolls under the ring. LA Knight follows and bounces Balor’s head off the announce table several times before throwing him back in the ring and hitting a shoulder tackle. LA Knight climbs to the middle rope but Balor grabs his leg and slams him down to the mat.

*Commercial break*

Our main event continues live with Balor having LA Knight in a chin lock on the mat. Knight gets to his feet and hits a neck breaker. LA Knight hits a big boot and covers for two. Balor hits a slingblade and goes for a drop kick but LA Knight counters with a lariat. LA Knight hits a running knee in the corner. Balor hits a drop kick and then climbs up top and goes for the Coup de Grace but LA knight rolls out of the way. LA Knight hits his signature elbow drop and covers for two. Balor hits an inverted DDT and climbs back up top but LA Knight shoves him down and climbs up top to go for a superplex but Balor fight free at first but La Knight leaps back up and hits the superplex. LA Knight then hits the BFT and covers for three.

Winner: LA Knight

SmackDown goes off the air with the arena lights getting cut, as the fireflies light up the arena, a lantern is shown lit in the ring surrounded by smoke. A projection of Bray Wyatt’s shadow is shown on the titantron as the crowd chants “thank you Bray”.
