WWE has signed up a few people in recent memory who have history in the ring, but their services are needed backstage instead. Nick Aldis, although he is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and can still go in the ring, is now with WWE as a producer. His wife, Mickie James, just confirmed that as well.

Mickie James has provided clarity regarding Nick Aldis’ association with WWE. Earlier this month, reports circulated that Nick Aldis had been backstage at WWE Raw and SmackDown tapings, undergoing a tryout for a producer role within the company.

This jump to WWE followed a brief return to IMPACT Wrestling, where the former Magnus faced Alex Shelley for the IMPACT World Championship at Slammiversary in July. Nick Aldis might be able to wrestle, and he hasn’t announced any sort of in-ring retirement, but he is not in the ring for WWE.

In a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Mickie James, who is herself a former WWE star, confirmed Aldis’ role when discussing her favorite producer, mentioning Fit Finlay and acknowledging Nick Aldis.

“He’s been shadowing there, but he’s never produced me. I do think that he’s going to be an incredible producer if that works out, and they love that, and he loves that.”

“I also believe in my husband in anything he does, and I think he’s an incredible wrestler, an incredible champion, an incredible artist with everything he does.”

“He’s a professional, an incredible businessman with legacy supplements. An incredible dad, an incredible husband.”

This is a shadowing period of Nick Aldis, so we’ll have to see if WWE decides he is the right fit for the job. If anything, it appears that Aldis is totally fine in that role, and he could obviously be beneficial as a producer as well.

We’ll have to see if Nick Aldis, or anyone else connected to the situation, ever opens up about how this deal to bring him in as a producer came to pass. Nick Aldis could certainly provide a lot of knowledge and guidance for WWE Superstars for years to come in that role.

It also sounds like Nick Aldis really likes the idea of becoming a producer for WWE. Mickie James also seems incredibly supportive of her husband’s new venture.
