Rey Mysterio Joins Goldberg In Elite List After WWE United States Title Win

Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling, and his influence in the industry is undeniable. He has done a lot for the business and won numerous titles over the years. He won the United States Title last week on Smackdown and it appears he joined Goldberg in another elite list.

Santos Escobar was supposed to face Austin Theory for the United States Title last week on Friday Night Smackdown. However, that did not happen as he suffered an injury of sorts and was replaced by Rey Mysterio.

Rey Mysterio squared off against Austin Theory for the title. The Master of the 619 overcame the odds and defeated Theory to become the new United States Champion, as the LWO celebrated.

According to Wrestling Stats & Info, it was revealed that Rey Mysterio has joined fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg in an elite list, as both were part of WCW back in the day.

“Superstars who had a championship reign while on the WCW roster in the 1990s & who also had a championship reign while on the WWE roster in the 2020s [so far]: – @Goldberg – @reymysterio. Will any other WCW alum make the list this decade?”

Fans were certainly elated to see the WWE Hall Of Famer become the champion after so many years. We will have to wait and see what will have planned for him after his major win.
