Warner Bros. Pictures released Black Adam to theaters in the United States on October 21st, 2022. The performances of Dwayne Johnson and Pierce Brosnan were praised by critics, but the narrative and villain were panned, and the action sequences elicited mixed reactions. It appears The Rock claimed that the film got caught up in a vortex of new leadership.

The Rock is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in pro wrestling as well as Hollywood. However, his stock has slightly taken a hit after the failure of his ‘Black Adam’ film. Reports suggested that he tried to restructure the DCEU to make it all about his Black Adam character and Superman.

It is interesting to note that “Black Adam” grossed an impressive $393 million worldwide. However, the movie was labeled as a failure due to the overall costs involved. While appearing on Kevin Hart’s Hart to Hart talk show on Peacock, The Rock claimed that ‘Black Adam’ got caught up in a vortex of new leadership.

“‘Black Adam’ got caught in a vortex of new leadership. It was so many changes in leadership. Anytime you have a company, a publicly traded company, and you have all those changes in leadership, you have people coming in who, creatively and fiscally, are going to make decisions that you may not agree with.”

“That will always be one of the biggest mysteries,” Johnson said. “You have the biggest opening of your career. Sure, no China, which could’ve been maybe 100 or 200 million more dollars. You have a superhero and you want to grow out the franchise. You bring back Superman and Henry Cavill, which the world went crazy. And we created a diverse superhero portfolio, where we have just men and women of color in ‘Black Adam.’”

Dwayne Johnson’s attempt to restructure the DCEU around himself and Henry Cavill’s Superman has caused some significant changes, including the replacement of actors in a post-credits scene. Regardless, The Rock is out of the DCEU and is unlikely to return anytime soon.
