Ilja Dragunov Dismisses Idea Of Joining Imperium

Ilja Dragunov has a lot of eyes on him right now, as he is preparing to take on Carmelo Hayes at the Great American Bash with the NXT Title on the line. Although he hasn’t made his way to the main roster yet, many fans can still picture Ilja Dragunov as a member of an already established stable.

Imperium is led by GUNTHER, as he has Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser by his side. Some fans can really see Ilja Dragunov as a part of that faction, but Dragunov doesn’t seem interested.

During an interview with Wrestleshpere, Ilja Dragunov addressed internet speculation about him potentially joining Gunther’s Imperium faction if he joins the WWE main roster.

“My question to this is honestly, who would actually want this? There couldn’t be more differences between Imperium and me. Those guys are very cold, very stoic, very methodical. I’m a completely unbalanced super intense mad dragon. That’s the person I am. They don’t fit together. Who wants to see something that is not fitting together?”

Ilja Dragunov is a standout talent, and he also has a ton of support in NXT. Shawn Michaels even said during the Great American Bash media conference that he couldn’t wait to work with him. He also gave Ilja Dragunov a ton of credit for his professionalism, and everything else he brings to the table.

Only time will tell what WWE does with Ilja Dragunov. He has a tremendous upside to him, as any fan who watches him work a match quickly understands the hype around him.
