AEW caused a few fans to worry when they signed Orange Cassidy after the company started. Many considered him a fad, a hands-in-his-pockets, too lazy to wrestle, flash in the pan. He eventually became one of the biggest names on the roster, and he continues to deliver every week in unique fashion while defending the International Championship.
Orange Cassidy has cemented his position as the most successful champion in the history of All Elite Wrestling. Since capturing the AEW International Championship in October 2022, his reign has been lauded as one of the standout highlights on AEW’s weekly programming.
During the July 26th, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite, Cassidy achieved an unprecedented feat by successfully defending the International Championship for the 27th consecutive time. His latest victory came in a hard-fought singles match against AR Fox, solidifying his place in AEW’s record books.
Throughout his historic reign, Cassidy has faced and triumphed over a formidable array of opponents, including Rey Fenix, Jay Lethal, Bandido, Swerve Strickland, Jeff Jarrett, Wheeler Yuta, Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia, Buddy Matthews, Katsuyori Shibata, and many other top talents in the wrestling world. His dominance as champion has captivated fans and solidified his legacy as one of AEW’s most outstanding competitors.
We will have to see what’s next for Orange Cassidy. It’s possible that someone like Jon Moxley could have his number. If anything, he has proven any doubters wrong, and continues to bring great performances on a weekly basis. Only time will tell how much longer he has in this impressive run as AEW International Champion.
