Don Callis Attacked By Fan After Kenny Omega Match At AAA Triplemania XXXI

Don Callis was introduced shortly before he helped Kenny Omega win the AEW World Championship back at AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming 2020. Callis has been working together with Omega since then, but that has changed as Callis is now Omega’s sworn enemy. That being said, it appears Callis was legitimately attacked by a fan after AAA Triplemania XXXI.

In the main event of Triplemania XXXI, Vikingo squared off against Kenny Omega in an instant classic rematch from their previous bout on AEW Dynamite. Vikingo would win the match with a 630 Splash, but that wasn’t the biggest story coming from the event.

According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, there was a post-show press conference where Kenny Omega was confronted by Don Callis. This led to Konosuke Takeshita attacking Omega in order to continue their feud ahead of AEW Blood & Guts.

However, as security was breaking up the fight, that was when a fan attacked Don Callis from behind. It was said that the fan busted open Callis’ mouth and even concussed his eardrum.

“Everything was an angle up to that point, but then a fan who was apparently upset about what Don had said to Kenny jumped Don from behind, ripped his suit, concussed his eardrum and busted open his mouth while he was trying to choke out Don from behind,” Alvarez said. “ Don was screaming profanities at the fan before he was pulled off, and was said to be livid afterwards.”

It was further reported that Don Callis suffered neck and ankle injuries due to the attack. He was then sent to San Diego for medical attention. Alvarez made it abundantly clear that the situation was “absolutely not a work”.

This is certainly disturbing news as no fan has the right to put their hands on any pro wrestling performer or personality, no matter how hated their character is in the business. We’ll keep you updated on this ongoing story.
