WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin remains one of the most significant names in pro wrestling history. After all, he single-handedly ushered in the Attitude Era and changed the course of pro wrestling forever. That said, it appears he also had an amusing reaction to CM Punk asking him for a stunner.
Throughout his career, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin has squared off against some of the most iconic wrestlers in WWE history. From legendary battles with The Rock to intense rivalries with Triple H and Mick Foley, Austin never failed to create history at every turn.
Steve Austin’s Stunner is undoubtedly one of the most legendary finishing moves in the history of the world of professional wrestling. Various pro wrestlers have sold the move in different ways, with The Rock being the best example.
It is also a known fact that CM Punk ans Steve Austin have a very good relationship. While speaking with Inside The Ropes, CM Punk recalled Steve Austin’s reaction when he asked for a stunner during a segment.
And I walk up to him and go: ‘Hey, what are you doing?’ And he’s like: ‘What do you mean?’ ‘Do you mind just coming out and giving me a Stunner? And how else are we gonna send these people home?’ And he was like: ‘G******! Yeah. Alright, kid!’ And here’s a guy, and he literally was like: ‘I’ve been back here, I don’t know how many times, and ain’t nobody ever asked me that before!’ You know?
And I was just like why the f**k hasn’t anybody ever asked this guy, because I was like, I’m out the door. I might as well be able to say I took a Stunner. I think that’s where Steve [Austin] took a liking to me? Again, if you never ask, the answer is always no. So that’s when I started prodding him and there was a sliver in time where it was gonna happen.”
Steve Austin also had great things to say about CM Punk while he was away from AEW television after AEW All Out last year. The two will always share a bond and that’s unlikely to ever change.
