WWE RAW opened up this week with Seth Rollins coming out to accept his open challenge. He was going to put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line, but then Finn Balor had a lot to say about that. In the end, no match took place, but that wasn’t the original plan.

Seth Rollins already has two World Heavyweight Championship matches in line for himself. He will face Bron Breakker at NXT Gold Rush on June 20th, and he will also defend his title against Finn Balor at Money in the Bank on July 1st. The company nixed a planned match for this week.

BWE noted behind his private Twitter account that WWE actually had Tommaso Ciampa slated to face Seth Rollins in his match this week. Those plans were changed, and the match was switched to the segment we all saw go down this week.

It was noted that Triple H made that change, because he didn’t want Tommaso Ciampa to lose his first match back. This was obviously a call to keep Ciampa strong, because he later made his return with a win over The Miz.

Vince McMahon made big change this week, but he didn’t make a ton of alterations throughout the show. It seems that Triple H was the one who made this call to switch up Seth Rollins’ opponent, and then Vince McMahon nixed the whole segment.

We will have to see what’s next for Seth Rollins. He certainly has a lot on his plate right now, and the weight of being WWE World Heavyweight Champion is starting to really show.
