AEW fired BJ Whitmer after news of his recent arrest. It seems that Whitmer’s status with the company was on shaky ground prior to that whole situation.

As we previously reported, BJ Whitmer was arrested by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department in Boone County, Kentucky on the evening of June 4. Whitmer is facing charges of strangulation in the first degree and burglary in the second degree. He was a producer for AEW at the time of his arrest.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that BJ Whitmer was actually in hot water with AEW prior to his arrest and subsequent firing.

Ahead of his arrest, we’re told that BJ Whitmer had some heat with how he’d produced a recent match.

AEW was quick to announce that BJ Whitmer was fired after news of his arrest broke. The heat on BJ that already existed might have helped play a part in that quick release.

Now, BJ Whitmer is on his own, and he must deal with the consequences of his actions. Hopefully, this ordeal is resolved without any further messiness.
