WWE had far more free agents after the 2023 Draft than ever before. This resulted in a few of them showing up in NXT already, and that’s all a part of the plan.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that it was Nick Khan’s idea to bring in so many main roster Superstars to NXT. After all, as CEO of the company, Nick Khan has some say in the matter.

It was said that this is “a Nick Khan thing” to “bring main roster Superstars to NXT every week, boost the ratings, and try to up your price for renewal for USA Network.” Television rights deals are a big topic of conversation within the company, and they are looking for any way to boost those numbers.

It was also noted that this is the strategy that WWE is going with for NXT to earn more money in their next television contract. This is the reason why we are apparently seeing more main roster Superstars mix it up on the developmental brand.

WWE fans have already seen Mustafa Ali, Baron Corbin, and Dana Brooke show up in NXT in recent memory. Odds are, Seth Rollins will show up as well, because Bron Breakker challenged him at the end of this week’s show.

Only time will tell how these main roster Superstars will help NXT out. If anything, it certainly gives fans a reason to watch, because you never know who will show up next.
