Aubrey Edwards draws a lot of attention to her when she is the referee for any match. AEW fans can usually expect for her to officiate all Chris Jericho matches as well, but this time she’s getting involved with another star on screen.

During this week’s AEW Rampage taping, an intriguing confrontation unfolded as Jeff Jarrett and his group directed their attention towards Aubrey Edwards. Of course, she has teased involvement with the stable as they continue to make her life difficult.

In a surprising turn of events, Mark Briscoe emerged as the response to Jarrett’s challenge, unveiling an announcement regarding a mixed trios tag match. This is a rare booking for AEW, because mixed tag team matches aren’t really featured on their program.

The match will see Jeff Jarrett, Karen Jarrett, and Jay Lethal squaring off against the trio of Mark Briscoe, Papa Briscoe, and Aubrey Edwards. This match could be quite a spectacle for fans.

Those developments follow recent hints that indicated a potential transition for Aubrey Edwards from referee to active wrestler could be possible. With Edwards and Jarrett engaging in physical altercations on the June 2 edition of Rampage, things were only amped up this week.

We will have to see if this mixed six-person tag team match pops a rating. Only time will tell if this will open the door for Aubrey Edwards to have more matches in an AEW ring.

What’s your take on Aubrey Edwards getting involved in angles? Do you think she should have stayed a referee? Sound off in the comments!
