WWE fans were very excited to hear that Seth Rollins is attached to the new Captain America project. They were especially happy about the fact that Captain America: New World Order had a direct pro wrestling tie-in with the title. Now, they are a bit bummed after the NWO was removed from the new Captain America movie.
Anthony Mackie officially confirmed that the upcoming Captain America film is undergoing a name change from Captain America: New World Order to Captain America: Brave New World.
This name change disappointed wrestling fans, as New World Order was also the name of the famous faction that dominated WCW during the Monday Night Wars. Some fans drew that connection, but then they had the rug pulled from under them.
With WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in an undisclosed role on the film, speculation suggested he might be a member of the Serpent Society. We are still waiting for more information about the Visionary’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE was thrilled about this role for him.
Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to be released on May 3rd, 2024. This film will mark the first time Mackie, portraying Sam Wilson, will take on the Captain America name after Chris Evans retired from the role after Avengers: Endgame.
You can check out some responses below. Only time will tell how the film pans out, but Disney hasn’t disappointed many fans with their handling of the MCU.
We will continue to keep our eye on this project, just because Seth Rollins is attached. It could also be a launching pad for the Monday Night Messiah in Hollywood. Keep checking back with Ringside News for more updates, and we invite you to chime in by using the comments below!
