AEW is starting a new show on Saturday nights. Fans will need to block off two hours, from 8:00 PM EST to 10:00 PM EST, for AEW Collision. This announcement has received mixed reactions so far, but Jim Ross is interested.

During his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross stated that Saturdays are hard for pro wrestling shows. He should know, because the WWE Hall of Famer has decades in the business. Pro wrestling is always tricky, especially in 2023, when fans have so many more other options.

Jim Ross also stated that the AEW Collision commentary team has been kept close to the vest. He also inserted his interest in joining the AEW Collision commentary team, even though it would screw with his football habits.

“I don’t know a lot about this show. I don’t know who’s gonna broadcast it. I don’t know who the broadcast team is. It’s all been kept close to the vest, shall we say? Saturday night is a challenging night for television. It just is. It doesn’t mean people don’t watch TV on Saturday. They do, and I believe that they will if there’s a reason. I don’t know what the roster is gonna look like, which is kind of cool. You can play along and see what happens. I hope I can broadcast that show even though it’ll kill my football on Saturday nights for a while. We’ll figure that out. That’s not a big deal. The great thing about streaming and all those things is I can watch my ballgame, but I just may not be able to watch it live.”

We will have to see how AEW Collision pans out. This show has received a lot of attention, but much of it hasn’t been in the best light. All in all, CM Punk’s name has been attached to pretty much every headline, and how he pulled out of the show.

Ringside News exclusively reported on WWE’s internal reaction to CM Punk playing games with AEW Collision. Suffice it to say, many are under the guaranteed assumption that he is “toxic.” Regardless, Jim Ross would probably love calling his matches on Collision, because his role in AEW has diminished greatly since they placed him front and center on the company’s commentary team.

What’s your take on Jim Ross’ status with AEW? Does he need to be on Collision? Sound off in the comments!
