Mercedes Mone has already established herself as one of the best female pro wrestlers on the planet and many feel this is an undisputed fact now. She competed at NJPW Resurgence recently and had high hopes to become a champion again. Not only did that not happen, it appears that Mone suffered a major injury during the match.

At NJPW Resurgence, a one-night tournament was held in order to crown the first NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion. In the first round, Mercedes Mone defeated Stephanie Vaquer.

Mercedes Mone then squared off against Willow Nightingale in the tournament finals in the main event. Despite her best efforts, Mercedes Mone was unable to defeat Nightingale to become the champion.

According to PWInsider, it was reported that Mercedes Mone suffered a broken ankle during the match. Naturally, this became a major cause of concern for many, who wanted Mone to simply succeed.

The word making the rounds backstage at the New Japan Pro Wrestling Resurgence event in California is that Mercedes Mone suffered a broken ankle during the main event against Willow Nightingale.  We will update as we confirm more details.

It is certainly sad to see that Mercedes Mone suffered such an unfortunate injury during the major match. We will have to wait and see when Mercedes Mone will be able to make her in-ring return.
