CM Punk might be on his way back to AEW, but they are keeping that close to the vest right now. The Second City Savior wasn’t included in the official materials for the new show, although Andrade El Idolo was shocked to see himself. CM Punk is still not officially a part of the new show.

Jimmy Traina and Brandon Thurston reported that an initial version of the AEW Collision press release included CM Punk as one of the featured wrestlers for the upcoming show. Of course, Punk’s name was erased before the report went public.

This news sparked speculation that a last-minute decision was made to delay CM Punk’s announcement, potentially reserving it for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite or as a surprise for the first show on June 17th.

In an effort to seek clarification, Connor Casey from ComicBook.com reached out to Warner Bros. Discovery, receiving a statement that read: “CM Punk is not affiliated with TNT’s AEW Collision.”

It was previously noted that CM Punk was mentioned in a release from Warner Bros Discovery, although his name was later deleted. This could lend more weight to the idea that they are trying to keep CM Punk’s Collision debut a surprise.

Here’s an interesting one for the wrestling fans: AEW’s press release on their new show says, “will feature headliners including Thunder Rosa, Miro, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs and Andrade El Idolo.” Their email, though, and link to the release, mentioned CM Punk. Hmmm….

We will keep our eyes on this story, because anything can change, especially when CM Punk is involved. It is still expected that CM Punk will be a part of the show, and a number of roster members were shocked that Punk wasn’t included in today’s announcement.

What’s your take on CM Punk’s AEW return? Is it a good idea? Sound off in the comments!
