Taya Valkyrie made her NXT debut in 2021 under the ring name Franky Monet. Prior to signing with the WWE, she was one of the biggest female stars in Impact Wrestling. She might be a permanent fixture of AEW right now, but it appears Valkyrie isn’t having the best of times right now. Valkyrie recently announced that her grandmother has passed away.

Taya Valkyrie made her long-awaited AEW Dynamite debut in her home country of Canada during the March 15th edition of the show, confronting TBS Champion Jade Cargill.

The AEW star took to Twitter recently and announced that grandmother, who was 96 years years of age, had passed away. Valkyrie then recalled her fondest childhood memories with her and promised to “treasure them forever.”

My 96 year old grand mother passed away quietly this morning. I’m so sad I didn’t get to see you one more time but I’m glad dad was there w you in Switzerland. Summers w you are some of my fondest childhood memories and I’ll treasure them forever. Say hi to Bria for me. 🙏🏻🥺
