WWE is all about their rich history and prestige, whether it is related to a Superstar or a championship. The World Title is viewed as the biggest prize in all of sports entertainment, but WWE decided to introduce a new belt after essentially booking themselves into a corner. Now it appears that WWE was blasted for introducing the new World Heavyweight Championship.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Triple H revealed that new WWE World Heavyweight Championship is on the way. This will help split up Roman Reigns’ run as the Undisputed Champion.

The new World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned at WWE Night Of Champions on May 27th. That said, WWE has yet to announce any sort of tournament to crown the new champion.

While speaking on Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, Jim Cornette talked about WWE’s decision to introduce the new World Heavyweight Championship. Cornette blasted WWE for the decision, noting that it makes no sense to introduce a new title simply because Roman Reigns does not wrestle often.

“How does this make sense? The best guy won’t wrestle often so we’re gonna make another guy another champion… I can believe an interim champion, I could buy that. That’s done in sports, even though Tony [Khan] does it too much… but no, this is just for no reason and the reason that they gave does not hold up to any logic or common sense in terms of the fans enjoyment. It doesn’t make any sense.”

WWE also has a top candidate for the new World Heavyweight Championship. There is also concern the new title will dilute other championships in the company. We will have to wait and see who will be the new champion at Night Of Champions on May 27th.

What’s your take on what Jim Cornete said? Do you think the title is pointless? Sound off in the comments!
