During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed WWE’s plan for a new title belt. This is something that was in the pipeline for a while, and the company already had a few names ready to battle for that gold.

When they were going to do a second belt. The second belt […] It was gonna be Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, and Drew McIntyre. Those were the three people considered. And it probably won’t be Drew because he has not signed a new deal, so I doubt that they would put it on him, although he’s under contract until the end of the year.

Seth, obviously, if you watched the TV you pretty much figure Seth’s gonna be the guy who wins it. Seth and Austin Theory teased it the most, and Cody didn’t talk about it at all.

WWE is going to make the most out of their new title belt. After all, they are already selling replicas of the World Heavyweight Championship. Only time will tell who wins that belt in Saudi Arabia, but they have a couple of good choices so far.

We will have continued coverage of this ongoing story here at Ringside News. Keep checking back for constant updates as we continue through this landmark time for WWE.

What’s your take on WWE introducing a new title belt? Should they have just beat Roman Reigns instead?
