Triple H took over as head of WWE Creative after Vince McMahon’s temporary retirement last year. Given the reins, The Game hired back a lot of talent that was previously released by McMahon. With McMahon back in the fold and WWE sold, Nick Khan announced impending budget cuts. Now it appears that talent are concerned about their future following Khan’s comments.

WWE was sold to UFC’s parent company Endeavor and will now merge into a new publicly traded company worth $21 billion. Obviously, this deal will take some time to finally take effect.

After news of the merger made headlines, many people were worried that massive cuts were going to be made to WWE’s production and roster. It didn’t help that Nick Khan recently stated that WWE will making $50 million in cuts after the merger with the UFC.

According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, despite Nick Khan stating that production and creative would not likely be affected, WWE talent are concerned backstage about their future in the company. This especially holds true for talent that were rehired by Triple H when Vince McMahon retired last year.

Dave Meltzer noted that under Triple H, numerous talent have been signed but no corresponding release to balance the numbers on the roster. That said, Meltzer noted that “of late the new signees have mainly been Division I college athletes on the developmental side.”

In case one needs a refresher, Bray Wyatt, Dakota Kai, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Bronson Reed, Tegan Nox, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Karrion Kross and Scarlett were talent who were rehired by Triple H. We’ll have to wait and see whether some of them will end up getting released in the future.
