Vince McMahon is the Executive Chairman of WWE and made his WWE return this year in order to prepare the company for an inevitable sale. After almost months of going back and forth between potential buyers, WWE was sold to UFC’s parent company Endeavor. Now it appears that John Morrison believes WWE will end up releasing many people after the UFC merger.

Endeavor will merge UFC and WWE into a new publicly traded company worth $21 billion. This is truly a massive deal and will lead to significant changes that both WWE as well as the world of combat sports as a whole.

After news of the merger made headlines, many people were worried that massive cuts were going to be made to WWE’s production and roster. Naturally, this is a very pressing matter for many people now.

While speaking on MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, John Morrison stated that he believes WWE has started a hiring freeze right now and that a lot of people will be let go by the company as a result of the UFC merger.

I think there’s a hiring freeze right now. I think they’re going to end up letting a bunch of guys go. I think salaries are going to get cut. I’m really glad AEW is around to balance that out a little bit, because if they weren’t, there would be no leverage, and nowhere else to go, and WWE and UFC would be this weird monopoly that just wrings the money out of the livelihood of the fighters and wrestlers and I always think that sucks.

John Morrison’s fears will likely come true as Nick Khan recently stated that WWE will making $50 million in cuts after the merger with the UFC. We’ll have to wait and see when WWE will begin their cuts.

What’s your take on what John Morrison said? Are you worried about the impending WWE cuts? Sound off in the comments!
