During the April 18 edition of WWE NXT, the holder of the NXT UK Championship Noam Dar was introduced with a new name for his championship. On commentary and during his ring entrance, Dar was referred to as the “NXT Heritage Cup Champion,” dropping the NXT UK designation.

The change in name suggests that the Heritage Cup will remain in place, and it marks the latest development in the championship’s evolution since its introduction in NXT UK. Dar joined the NXT roster on April 4 after coming over from the now-defunct NXT UK brand. During a match between Nathan Frazer and Dragon Lee, Dar sat ringside with the Heritage Cup trophy. Dragon Lee went on to win the match.

Last week, there was a video package featuring Dar that explained the rules of the Heritage Cup matches and announced that the concept would be making its way to NXT in the future.

The new name for Dar’s championship suggests that the Heritage Cup will continue to be an important part of the NXT brand, and fans can likely expect to see more Heritage Cup matches in the future.
