AEW has a lot of tactics that they can pull out to pop attention with fans. Few things bring intrigue like the idea that stars might be leaving the company for the competition, especially if they’re a highly decorated tag team. That seems to have worked for FTR, and it was all part of the plan.

FTR decided to stick with AEW, despite apparent interest from WWE. They were covered in gold during the later part of 2022, but they also teased their exit at the same time. This was a very interesting subject of conversation with fans.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer briefly discussed FTR’s situation with AEW. He noted that Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler were told months ago that their deal was already in line with AEW and the entire deal about them leaving the company was an angle.

“It should be noted that we were told months ago that the deal was already done and everything public was an angle given the storyline with the belts vs. leaving the company, and due to that, nobody could say so publicly.”

FTR are sticking around AEW, and only time will tell if they end up working alongside CM Punk again. They are involved in the meetings with Tony Khan and Chris Jericho that Punk will also attend. Hopefully, they can come to some sort of resolution on the matter and do what’s best for business.

What’s your take on this situation with FTR in AEW? Do you think they made the right decision by sticking around? Sound off in the comments!
