AEW has become the land of opportunity for various aspiring wrestlers all over the world and that includes young upstart Nick Wayne. He signed with AEW a while ago but has yet to debut as Wayne isn’t 18 yet. Now it seems AEW plans on having Wayne make his debut on AEW television in July.

The 17-year-old independent star became the youngest athlete to sign with AEW when he was 16 back in February 2022. Nick Wayne has proven his mettle inside the squared circle while competing in the indie circuit until his AEW debut.

At Saturday’s DEFY show, Nick Wayne defeated AEW star Swerve Strickland for the DEFY Title in Seattle, Washington. Strickland already beat Wayne once, with the series tied at 1-1.

Following the conclusion of the match, Swerve Strickland challenged Nick Wayne to a rematch for the title on the first episode of Dynamite after Wayne turns 18 years old. This would be on the July 12th episode of the show.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez talked about Nick Wayne’s impending debut in AEW and how the debut is being set up.

“So, tonight at DEFY, the main event was Swerve and Nick Wayne for the DEFY Title. Nick Wayne beat him and won the title. And afterward, Swerve cut a promo where he said that he had a time and place for his rematch, and it was going to be on Dynamite. The first show in July after Nick Wayne turns 18. Whichever day that is, Nick is going to debut on the first Dynamite after he turns 18 in a match with Swerve, apparently for the DEFY Title. So that’s the story there. It all happened tonight.”

Nick Wayne already has a few opponents in sight to wrestle when he makes his AEW debut, even after Swerve Strickland. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether Nick Wayne will have a successful debut on AEW television in July.
