Rey Mysterio Confirms His Plan To Retire From WWE

Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling, and his influence in the industry is undeniable. When it comes to being a pro wrestler, Mysterio has essentially accomplished everything, and he has a WWE Hall of Fame ring on the way to prove it. He also confirmed how much time he has left in his WWE contract and when he will retire.

Rey Mysterio dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the industry and gained a lot of respect from fans and peers alike. He has been wrestling since he was 14 and his contributions to the business cannot be understated.

On March 31st, Rey Mysterio will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a recognition of his remarkable career. Right after that, he will be squaring off against his son Dominik Mysterio in a highly personal match.

While speaking with WESH 2 News, the 48-year-old WWE Hall of Famer admitted that he will likely retire before he reaches the age of 50. Only time will tell if he sticks to that number.

“I’ve always had this number in mind and it just kept getting higher and higher every single time just because how great my body has been feeling and overall, how since my schedule slimmed down, I feel like this energetic person that loves to go in there and perform on a once-a-week basis. Just brings out a different type of energy. But, I had 5-0, 50 was the number that I said I was — I cannot and I don’t think I will go past it.

But to be able to be inducted and given such a prestige honor of being part of the Hall of Fame, it’s like the ultimate in your career. You always think that, hoping that one day when you retire, that offer is presented to you but here it is, you know? I’m in somewhat of the peak of my career maybe because I still feel great, I feel like I can compete on the level of other superstars but overall, it’s just a dream come true.”

Rey Mysterio is set to square off against his son Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 39. We will have to wait and see whether The Master of the 619 will be able to win the match in the end.
