UPDATE: WWE officially announced Rey Mysterio as the first inductee into the 2023 Hall of Fame class. You can read all about it by clicking here.

WWE took their time when it came to announcing any induction for the WWE Hall of Fame. This year’s ceremony will tape after the go-home episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania, so fans who have a ticket to see the blue brand will get a two-for deal. Now the company has revealed the first name that will make it into the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame.

According to PW Insider, The Great Muta is the first announced inductee in the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame. This is a very interesting choice, especially considering the fact that Muta never wrestled in WWE.

The Great Muta just retired, and Triple H actually allowed Shinsuke Nakamura the opportunity to get involved in one of those final bouts. The Great Muta’s legacy is a celebrated on, and that likely caused Triple H to make that choice to allow his talent to work the match.

We will have to see who else is inducted into the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame. The Great Muta’s name was certainly an unexpected one.

Triple H is likely choosing the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame inductees, because this was a job Vince McMahon used to fulfill. That being said, Vince McMahon is still around, and you never know when his influence might be seen on television.

What’s your take on this induction choice? Could WWE have picked someone better right now? Sound off in the comments!
