All Elite Wrestling wants to keep their network happy. That being said, Tony Khan will do a few things to appease Warner Bros, and re-naming the All-Atlantic Title was just one of those favors.

According to Sean Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, Warner Bros asked AEW to do some cross-promotion for the new Shazam movie. Then they had the idea to “level up” the title.

Warner Bros asked for something big in order to cross promote the Shazam: Fury of the Gods movie on AEW. Tony Khan had the idea of doing a “level up” of the championship to the International Title. Khan actually had the new championship belt made months ago to prepare specifically for this week and next week in order to promote the film.

We’re told AEW is always excited to do the cross promotional work, and attempts to have newsworthy items in association with them. The company also wanted to put something newsworthy on the Winnipeg show and increase the prestige of a title they put on television often in prime positions.

AEW’s All-Atlantic Champion is Orange Cassidy, but he will carry around a new title in that backpack after next week. Only time will tell how this changes the booking, but it is very interesting that this was a method of cross-promotion for their programming.

What’s your take on AEW changing up their All-Atlantic Title name? Does it make any difference to you what they call it? Sound off in the comments!
