MJF’s steadfast dedication to his craft has paid off as he has ascended to the pinnacle of the wrestling industry, solidifying his position as one of the foremost performers in the field. That being said, it seems he sandbagged Tully Blanchard from getting more promo time.

During the March 10, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite, The Pinnacle was established when MJF betrayed Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle. The group included MJF, Wardlow, FTR, Shawn Spears, and Tully Blanchard.

However, the faction disbanded after Wardlow turned on MJF earlier in the year, and many fans believed that although The Pinnacle had significant potential, it was never fully realized in a meaningful manner.

Recently, Dax Harwood stated that the faction was dead on arrival. Dave Meltzer reported in the current Wrestling Observer regarding what Dax Hardwood said recently.

“Dax Harwood on MJF, Tully Blanchard and The Pinnacle from his podcast. He brought up a promo segment where they were together and he and Cash Wheeler pushed for Blanchard to have promo time in the segment and claimed MJF turned that down.

Dave Meltzer then proceeded to use Dax Harwood’s quote regarding the aforementioned promo segment. In the quote, it was revealed that MJF made it clear he should be the one doing all the talking and not Tully Blanchard.

“Me and Cash, we would sacrifice us and sacrifice our ‘cool stuff’ to give something to Tully, always. Whether it was in the match with – we’ll talk about it later – Darby and Sting where Tully was the factor and the reason the match ended. We always gave him time to talk because if we didn’t then our group was dead in the water because then it was just three people together.

So, before this promo, I remember talking to Max and I said, ‘Hey, I think we should allow Tully to do something, some of the talking,’ because that promo was 10 minutes long or whatever.

Max was like, ‘No no, I really think I should do all the talking.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, but we’ve got one of the greatest talkers of all time, Tully Blanchard, and he’s our manager and he’s the reason we’re all tied together, I think he should say a little something.’ Max didn’t see that my way and so Tully just sat in the back and so did everybody else.”

In January 2022, Blanchard confirmed that he had departed from AEW, describing the situation as complex. However, he noted that his contract had expired. MJF has a huge title defence at AEW Revolution against Bryan Danielson, so we’ll have to see how that will turn out.
