Brian Cage honed his skills in various promotions before joining AEW. The Machine is a highly skilled in-ring performer, particularly for someone of his size. He had been a staple on AEW television for some time now. He was largely absent for a long time but is now being utilized more. In fact, Chris Jericho wants AEW to re-sign Brian Cage.

Brian Cage was feuding with Team Taz after he was betrayed by them back in July 2021. Cage was usually regularly featured on AEW television, but his wife, Melissa Santos, isn’t a fan of his booking. This led to her ranting about it and got heat on him as well.

Brian Cage would then be gone from AEW television for a very long time until reappearing during a Ring Of Honor pay-per-view. Lately, Cage has been utilized more, having matches with the likes of Bryan Danielson and Konosuke Takeshita in subsequent episodes of AEW Dynamite.

While speaking to Matty Paddock of the Daily Star, Chris Jericho talked about Brian Cage’s current run in AEW, giving huge props to The Machine. Jericho then stated that he wants AEW to re-sign Brian Cage.

“I think Brian Cage over the last six months is the best Brian Cage has ever been. I think he’s finally starting to understand some of the psychology of wrestling rather than just moves and that sort of thing. He is one of a kind with his size and agility, but now there is more intensity and I think he’s really understanding who he is as a wrestler. Six months ago I might have said ‘Well, whatever, if he says that’s cool,’ but now I think he has become a way more valuable part of our roster and I would sign him for sure. Absolutely.”

Reports have suggested that Cage’s contract with AEW was “set to expire in matter of weeks.” Cage is currently one-third of the current ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions with Kaun and Toa Liona. It remains to be seen whether Brian Cage will stick with AEW in the end.
