GUNTHER was booked as an unstoppable monster during his time in NXT UK. The Austrian brute held the now-defunct NXT UK Championship for a record 870 days. He was dethroned by Ilja Dragunov in a five-star classic at NXT: TakeOver 36.

GUNTHER was called to WWE SmackDown alongside longtime friend Ludwig Kaiser (formerly known as Marcel Barthel) in April 2022. Vince McMahon booked GUNTHER to win the Intercontinental Champion, a title he hasn’t lost to date.

GUNTHER competed in the Men’s Royal Rumble match this past Saturday at the Alamodome. The powerhouse gave an incredible performance and nearly went the distance before he was eliminated by Cody Rhodes.

His performance was praised by fans and peers alike. Booker T said he’d prefer putting over GUNTHER than going over him after his history-making Royal Rumble performance. A fan asked former WWE star Chris Jericho to “take notes,” to which Jericho replied:

Sorry, I don’t do jobs. I’ll beat #Gunther’s stupid ass.

It remains to be seen how Triple H will book GUNTHER’s next feud heading into Elimination Chamber and ultimately WrestleMania 39. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more from the world of pro wrestling.
