Cody Rhodes missed months of in-ring action, as well as drama, due to an injury he suffered in the buildup to the 2022 Hell in a Cell premium live event. Tonight, the American Nightmare finally made his highly-anticipated return.

Cody Rhodes made his return from injury during the Royal Rumble tonight. The American Nightmare appeared as entrant number in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, much to the shock of Seth Rollins who was already in the ring.

WWE confirmed Cody Rhodes’ return during the January 16th, 2023, edition of Monday Night RAW. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion said he was “ready to finish the story” in the video package.

As previously reported, Cody Rhodes was not cleared for competition when WWE broke the news about his return on Monday Night RAW. The American Nightmare trained extremely hard for his in-ring comeback during his rehab.

Fans waited for the entire Royal Rumble match to see the American Nightmare. Then he finally came out in the #30 spot. The Alamodome popped big time for Cody Rhodes’ return, and he entered through a thick cloud of smoke and a huge smile on his face.
