WWE’s next Premium Live Event will be the Royal Rumble, which is set to take place on January 28th. Needless to say, fans are very excited about the upcoming event. It will feature both men and women in their respective Rumble matches. Now it seems WWE is considering different names for the women’s match.

The excitement is certainly in the air as fans continue to speculate as to what kind of surprises are in store for them during Men’s as well as Women’s Royal Rumble matches.

When it comes to the women’s Royal Rumble match, fans are concerned there just won’t be enough proper talent to justify a memorable match. Regardless, WWE definitely has interesting plans for the match.

According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that WWE is considering different names for the women’s Royal Rumble match this week. As of mid-week, NXT talent were not informed about any placement.

As of midweek, NXT talent, particularly women, were waiting to hear if anyone was being brought to the Rumble. Given 30 spots and far fewer than that number of women on the roster, there had been talk of different names being used. Ronda Rousey will not be in the Rumble (or at least that was the decision as of midweek) because of the feeling that they didn’t want to marginalize her star power by being just someone in the match since she wasn’t going to win it or be the focal point, and Charlotte Flair, rumored to be in, at press time was not to be in because she’s Smackdown champion. Rhea Ripley has been the betting line favorite to win.

We will have to wait and see what kind of surprises the company has in store for fans this week. After all, the Royal Rumble is undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year.
