WWE Hall of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler was one of the mainstays of WWE television for several years and was the voice of generation. He is no longer part of the active WWE commentary team, but does make sporadic appearances from time to time. Lawler recently created an unprecedented streak in professional wrestling history.

Jerry Lawler recently worked on an indie show in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that show marked the 53 straight years he has done a match.

Jerry Lawler’s streak might be historically unheard-of. It is even more remarkable considering the fact that he had a near-fatal heart attack at one point in his career. Lawler also wore the same dress he wore in 1993 on his first appearance as an announcer on the show.

When Lawler worked an indie show on 1/21 in Winston-Salem, NC, that made 53 straight years that he has done a match, a streak that may be unprecedented in history, and even more remarkable considering he had a near fatal heart attack at one point. Lawler on Raw this week wore the same outfit he wore in 1993 on his first appearance as an announcer on the show.

Jerry Lawler won dozens of championships during an illustrious career. The King feuded with some of the biggest names in professional wrestling. Lawler hosted “King Court” during his WWE days as well.

Jerry Lawler is currently signed to WWE, although he has not been at the commentary desk since April 2020. Lawler joined WWF in 1992 before exploring ECW and the indies. The King then returned to WWE in 2001 and has been with the company ever since.

In April 2020, Jerry Lawler was replaced by Samoa Joe on WWE RAW commentary, but Joe was eventually replaced by Corey Graves. Lawler’s sexually-charged quips during the Attitude Era may have ruffled a few feathers, but fans all over still compare him with the greats.

In more recent news, The King returned to WWE RAW during the RAW is XXX special. He rocked the very same outfit he sported during the very first episode of the show. Stay tuned to Ringside News for the latest updates.
