Vince McMahon shocked the pro wrestling world when he muscled his way back into a position of power within WWE. It didn’t take much time for his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, to resign from her position as Co-CEO, leaving Nick Khan as the company’s sole CEO. There is a story going around internally about why Stephanie McMahon decided to step down, and it only adds another layer to this complicated story.

It was said, prior to Vince McMahon’s return to WWE, that Mr. McMahon and Nick Khan had deal in place to sell WWE. This deal was supposed to be very financially beneficial for both of them. Now, it seems that a sale is coming, and Stephanie McMahon is nowhere in sight to stop it.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the story going around is that Stephanie McMahon stepped down from her CO-CEO spot, because she knew that a demotion was coming. She doesn’t need a job with WWE, so she left instead.

The story internally as to why Stephanie McMahon really left is that, and this comes from those unhappy that she left, is that she had done a great job thrown into the co-CEO role, and with Vince back, was about to be demoted and basically she doesn’t need the money or the job and had already decided last year to take a leave anyway. Of course the difference between a leave and staying on the Board, and a full break and leaving the Board, indicates this was a lot stronger move

Stephanie McMahon and Triple H are two names that have been reported as people that potential buyers might want to keep around. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia is the only perspective buyer who is theorized to keep Vince McMahon. After McMahon changed the company bylaws once again saying that he can make any decision without the Board of Directors’ approval, it’s anyone guess what will happen next in this story.

Stephanie McMahon will not be hard-up for cash, because she’s made a ton of money for decades. Even if her cash-flow stops, she will be fine. If you add in the fact that Triple H is still bringing in his WWE salary, and the couple still has an impressive portfolio of investments, the Billion Dollar Princess will be fine, even if she never ventures back to WWE.
