Shawn Michaels Requested For The New Day To Make NXT Jump

The New Day surprised fans when they showed up in NXT. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods won the NXT Tag Team Titles while they were there, and is no shortage of young teams who could get experience from the veterans.

Fightful Select dropped a portion from their upcoming interview with Kofi Kingston. It was said in the notes that Shawn Michaels was the one who requested The New Day in NXT, and the duo found out via their talent relations app.

He noted that in his talent relations app, he and Xavier Woods got notifications that Shawn Michaels had requested that they be brought to NXT. They took that as a huge compliment and were open to doing it. Specifically, he mentioned that they’d been wanting to work with Pretty Deadly for some time.

The New Day won the NXT Tag Team Titles, and have carried the belts happily on Tuesday and Friday nights. The team also had to recently call an audible for one segment, because the funeral bits they prepared needed to be changed in a hurry the moment news of Jay Briscoe’s passing hit.

The New Day are slated to defend their NXT Tag Team Titles at Vengeance Day on February 4th. This will be a triple-threat tag team match with Pretty Deadly and Gallus, fans might see the New Day drop those titles without taking a pinfall.
