Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega used to tag together as The Golden Lovers in DDT. The team disbanded after The Cleaner left his home promotion for New Japan Pro Wrestling. The two reunited at The New Beginning in Sapporo event in January 2018.

Kota Ibushi had falling out with NJPW and that led to The Golden Star publicly criticizing the company’s top management over their alleged mistreatment of him. Although NJPW’s Twitter account retweeted Ibushi’s best wishes to Omega before his match against Will Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom 17, the relationship between the two sides remains complicated.

The inaugural IWGP World Heavyweight Champion shared his thoughts on whether or not he’ll reunite with Kenny Omega now that The Cleaner is once again working with NJPW during a Q&A with Dark Puroresu Flowsion. Check out his answer here:

“Should Kenny continue to appear for New Japan once he loses the belt, then I don’t think we’re going to be able to wrestle together.”

It remains to be seen if Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega will reform the Golden Lovers in the foreseeable future. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more from the world of pro wrestling.
