Sting shocked the pro wrestling world when he showed up in AEW. He had a nice run alongside Darby Allin as the Icon impressed a lot of people with his skills at such a veteran age. Now, it appears that his time in AEW could be running up.

The Stinger was recently profiled by DMagazine where they did a nice little write-up about the WWE Hall of Famer. In the article, it is noted that Sting’s AEW contract is up in 2023, but an exact date is not provided.

“His deal with AEW expires sometime this year; he won’t say exactly when. When it ends, so will his time behind the face paint.”

“So many of the guys retire and then they come back, and I thought, ‘I’m not going to be like all the rest of the guys,’” he says. “Just like I said in the beginning, ‘I’m not going to be in this in 45 years.’ And here I am.”

Sting’s contributions to AEW meant a lot to get attention for the company. He also helped elevate a lot of stars just by standing in the ring with him. We also got to hear Tony Schiavone yell Sting’s name pretty much every week once again, and that was a real blast of nostalgia.

Sting is 63-year-old, and he was seemingly enjoying his retirement before signing with AEW. Now that hid deal is running up, you have to wonder whether he will be down to ink a new three-year deal with Tony Khan.

What’s your take on this situation with Sting’s contract? Soudn off in the comments!

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
