WWE underwent a complete makeover when a new regime took over the reins from former WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon after his retirement in July 2022. But Vince is officially back in power, and it seems like the WWE Board reportedly tried not to let that happen.

Vince McMahon retired from WWE amidst various sexual misconduct and hush-money scandal last year. However, recent reports have confirmed that Vince McMahon is reinstated to the WWE Board of Directors, alongside two of his preferred candidates, reportedly to pursue the sale of his business.

Vince McMahon’s return was however not something the current WWE Board of Directors was not in favor of. Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics noted on Twitter that the WWE Board tried to stop Vinnie Mac’s return due to pending investigations against him regarding the scandals he was involved in.

The Board’s response. “…it is also our unanimous view that your return to the Company at this time, while government investigations into your conduct by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and SEC are still pending, [Vince McMahon returning] would not be prudent from a shareholder value perspective.”

Vince McMahon left the company, as Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan served as co-CEOs while Triple H took over as Head of Creative. Now, McMahon is back, and only time will tell how far-reaching that change will be.

It is yet to be seen how the entire television product and the entire creative process will have a drastic impact, now that Mr. McMahon is back in power. A lot of factors play into that, including what their networks want out of the situation, but the bottom line is that, despite fan backlash, Vince McMahon is back in WWE.
