Sasha Banks walked out of WWE in May 2022, and then she became a free agent in 2023. After only a couple of days of free agency, we know now that Mercedes Mone is not All Elite.

Saraya had a mystery partner to declare as AEW rolls into the Forum next week. It was pretty apparent that her mystery partner could have been Mercedes Mone. That is not the case at all.

Mercedes Mone was thought to be Saraya’s partner next week in Los Angeles in a match against Dr. Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. Of course, Toni Storm was announced as her partner instead.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that the former Sasha Banks is not going to AEW. She doesn’t want to sign a long deal with Tony Khan’s company right now.

“She is not in Los Angeles. She is not coming to AEW. I don’t think she wants to make that commitment. Because if she goes to AEW it’s a long commitment.”

“I’ve heard denials from AEW people in the match. They knew that it was really screwed. That’s why they had to announce somebody this week because they knew it was really screwed because everybody was thinking that it was her and it wasn’t her.”

We’ll have to see if Mercedes Mone ever makes a return to WWE. She might not want to totally burn that bridge, and the act of signing a deal with AEW would also lock her down for an even longer commitment. Apparently, she’s not ready for that at this stage of her career.

What’s your take on this situation with Mercedes Mone? Sound off in the comments!
