2022 belonged to Kevin Owens, who had one of the greatest years in his entire career. KO reached the pinnacle of sports entertainment by main-eventing WrestleMania alongside his longtime idol Stone Cold Steve Austin, and now has revealed how he felt when he heard the news.

Kevin Owens berated the state of Texas in March 2022 and called out hometown native ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin to show up as a guest on ‘The Kevin Owens Show’ at WrestleMania 38. However, the segment turned into an impromptu match at the event, with Owens and Austin competing in a high-profile main event showdown.

The match was considered a massive blockbuster by the WWE Universe. Kevin Owens recently spoke during an interview with NYPost.com about being named as the best choice for Steve Austin’s opponent by Vince McMahon, Bruce Pichard, and Austin himself.

I still don’t have a full grasp on how that happened. All I know is I was told by several people, from Steve to Vince McMahon to Bruce Prichard, it couldn’t have been anybody other than you — meaning me — with Steve. I’m not sure who suggested it, who asked for it or how it came about. One day I’ll find out. But the point is that it’s extremely flattering to me that those three all thought I was the best choice. There’s really no higher compliment than that for me.”
