Chris Jericho has been part of the professional wrestling world for well over three decades now. Jericho has proven to be quite selfless when it comes to putting over talent he believes are worthy of it. In fact, Jericho is proud of how he was booked as the ROH World Champion. Jericho also confirmed nixed plans for his ROH World Title match at AEW Full Gear.
Chris Jericho eventually became the ROH World Champion when he beat Claudio Castagnoli. Jericho then proceeded to become a fighting champion, defending it regularly on AEW television.
At AEW Full Gear, Jericho defended the ROH World Title against Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson and Sammy Guevara in a four-way match. Jericho would pull off the victory in the end.
While speaking on his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Jericho confirmed reports that Claudio Castagnoli was going to win the ROH World Title at AEW Full Gear, adding that he was originally going to face Castagnoli in a singles match at the pay-per-view.
“The cool thing was the idea originally was to do me and Claudio (Castagnoli) at Full Gear.
One other idea was to do me and Bryan (Danielson) at Full Gear for the Ring of Honor Title and then Tony (Khan) had the idea of a three-way, Bryan versus Claudio versus Jericho.
We still weren’t quite feeling it and then Tony, once again — he really is a smart guy. He won the Booker of the Year for a reason. He came up with the idea of putting Sammy (Guevara) in there and making it a four-way. Now we have to figure out how that works storyline-wise and we got it.”
Chris Jericho eventually dropped the ROH World Title to Claudio Castagnoli in the main event of the ROH Final Battle pay-per-view. He is now set to face Ricky Starks in a singles match on the January 4th, 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite. We’ll have to see who will end up winning the match.
