Chris Jericho dropped the ROH World Title to Claudio Castagnoli in the main event of the ROH Final Battle pay-per-view on December 10th. Prior to his title loss, the wrestling veteran held the gold for 80 days. The original plan for Jericho to lose the ROH World Championship was a bit different.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jericho was supposed to lose the title at the November 18th Full Gear pay-per-view. Meltzer revealed that Sam Linsky, SVP of programming on TNT and TBS, was initially opposed to Jericho appearing at Final Battle. However, everyone eventually ‘got on the same page’ when it came to Jericho wrestling on the ROH pay-per-view.

Jericho defended his ROH World Title against Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson, and Sammy Guevara at Full Gear. Several titles changed hands, including the ROH Tag Team Championship, which The Briscoes won from FTR in a double dog collar match, at ROH Final Battle. Dax Harwood has since reflected on this fight and described it as his masterpiece.

Let’s see what else Jericho has in store for us. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Ringside News.
