Charlotte Flair’s booking in WWE was once one of the most controversial topics in the company, as fans were absolutely tired of seeing her in the main event title picture all the time. Despite her success, Charlotte allegedly struggled when dealing with Becky Lynch’s rise to the top of WWE.

Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch were formerly close friends, and that is no secret. Things between the two have apparently deteriorated over the years, owing to promo Becky Lynch cut years ago in which she referred to Charlotte as “plastic.” On the October 22nd, 2021, episode of SmackDown, Charlotte allegedly declined to join in a choreographed tug of war with the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.

The incident left Becky Lynch visibly furious. The two reportedly got heated backstage, but nothing physical happened. Lynch’s ex-boyfriend, Jeff Dye, recently appeared on Wrestling With Freddie and discussed Charlotte and Lynch’s turbulent relationship.

I think it’s like comedy or show business, or maybe even if you work at a warehouse or you work at Target or you work at Best Buy, you get competitive. You want the promotion, you want the raise, or you want some position. So, that’s just part of it for them. So, it’s like Charlotte had a difficult time that Becky was starting to become the face of the female wrestling thing.

Becky Lynch would frequently complain to Dye about Charlotte being upset at her throughout their feuds on WWE TV. This perplexed Dye, who assumed the two were taking WWE stories too seriously, but he says things were more genuine between the two than he initially anticipated.
